The Empowered for Witness Project (see background tab) is equipping individuals and congregations, to embody, proclaim and advance the Kingdom of God in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said: But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

We believe that learning to cooperate with the empowering of the Holy Spirit has the potential to help bring renewal to our churches, increasing our passion and effectiveness as servants of Christ Jesus. Through this project, we envision many people and congregations being raised up with love for Jesus, the heart of the Father and the power of the Holy Spirit to bring the hope of the gospel to the world.

Empowered for Witness is a joint ministry offered by Gold Avenue Church and Presbyterian Reformed Ministries International (PRMI), a non-profit Christian ministry devoted to exalting Jesus and igniting the church, which is headquartered in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Gold Avenue Church located in Grand Rapids Michigan initially offered the Empowered for Witness (EFW) 101 course in 2020 for 150 participants, including about 40 local pastors, where they experienced a powerful move of God! We have had many requests for this teaching since that time. We have developed this website to post the audio recordings and teaching handouts, so that individuals and congregations can take the EFW courses online. As subsequent courses are prepared, our intention is to offer the courses live, (stay tuned for our schedule) and then to post the materials on this website for use broadly in many congregations. We welcome your donations, which go directly to support this equipping ministry.

EFW 101: Foundations for Empowered Ministry
The theological foundation for all that follows, introducing the person and work of the Holy Spirit.
EFW 102: Manifestations of the Spirit’s Power
The gifts of the Holy Spirit, and learning the dynamics of cooperating with the Holy Spirit both personally and corporately.
EFW 103: Prayer and the Great Co-Mission
Growing in intimacy with Jesus Christ, growing in listening to God, intercessory prayer, and praying with vision and power.
EFW 104: The Healing Ministry of Jesus
Examining scripture to explore Jesus’ earthly healing ministry as a model for his ongoing ministries of healing in and through the Church.
EFW 105: Spiritual Warfare
Exploring Scripture’s description of the clash of kingdoms and its impact upon our life and ministries. Learn how to discern and resist the work of satan.
EFW 106: Listening Evangelism
Learn how to prayerfully connect with what God the Father is already doing and be directed by the Holy Spirit for the advance of the Kingdom of God.

EFW Online Lessons

EFW 101, EFW 102 & EFW 103

EFW Online is designed as a web course, where you can work through each lesson at your own pace.

Each session contains the audio recording of the teaching and the lesson handout, for review. Please listen to the teaching, using the handout as a guide. You may do this at your own pace until you have completed all the lessons. It is recommended (not required) that you complete EFW 101 first, before moving on to subsequent topics, as it is the Biblical Foundation for all that follows.

For EFW sessions that are taking place live, the sessions will be uploaded here after they occur in person. Please check back after each Thursday night session to access the new lessons.
